Requirements:

The qualifications required for admission to the Business Foundation programme : 


GCE Ordinary Level 


  • Local - 5 passes AND Credit passes for English and Mathematics
  • Cambridge - 5 D passes AND C passes for English and Mathematics
  • Pearson Edexcel - 5 Grade 3 passes AND Grade 4 passes for English and Mathematics 


OR


  • Local - 5 passes INCLUDING Credit pass for English
  • Cambridge - 5 C passes INCLUDING C pass for English
  • Pearson Edexcel - 5 Grade 4 passes INCLUDING Grade 4 pass for English  


OR


Equivalent qualifications acceptable to APIIT/Staffordshire University


  • Applicants are individually assessed where the basic criteria are not met, but other qualifications or work experience is present.

The APIIT Sri Lanka Business Foundation programme is an APIIT Sri Lanka award approved by Staffordshire University, UK as an entry qualification for the Staffordshire University Business degree programmes offered at APIIT. It is designed to inculcate study skills and practices based on sound educational methods, while instilling responsibility for studies in all students. The programme introduces students to the field of Business while developing numerate, digitial literacy, and communication skills. 


The Business Foundation programme prepares students with GCE O/L qualifications who do not wish to puruse GCE A/L studies or those with inadequate GCE A/L qualifications to enter the Staffordshire University Business degree programmes. 


The overall rationale of the programme is to prepare students to pursue and complete satisfactorily the degree studies leading to the awards in Business. 


Teaching & Learning


Semester one seeks to equip students with basic study and life skills with the modules English for Academic Purposes and Self & Society as well as discipline-related modules Business Mathematics and Introduction to Business Environments. These modules will assist students in their transition from secondary school to tertiary education.  


In the second semester, English for Academic Purposes and Self & Society continue. Building on the foundation laid in the first semester, Digital Literacy & Communication and Organisations & Behaviour are offered.
